WOW - WHAT. A. DAY!
The scene was set, the teams were pumped and off we went!
Day one’s format had everyone playing in their own category - with winners being decided from the round robin - straight league - in the men’s and mixed 30s divisions.
MIXED DIVISION
The mixed division saw a three way tie, as they all had two wins and a loss on their record, with the final rankings coming down to try differences. It was the Narwhals that took home the chocolates, with +13, whilst Sea Unicorns came in second with +6 and OT7 All Stars with -2, in an exciting - down to the wire - category.
The top two now progress into the ShootOut Cup, whilst third and fourth into the Plate.
MENS DIVISION
In the men's division, FIGJAM were clear winners, comfortably take the top spot with 4 wins, with 51 trys for, and only eight against - with two clean sheets to boot.
The Dutch Lions played some great touch, with a well fought event opener, where they came back from two down, to take the win against Steiböck, 8-5. Well deserved second place in this competitive division.
Steiböck took bronze, with two wins and two losses.
Both Norde code and Mardi Violets are growing in confidence and ability as they go, as they both head into day two's ShootOut Plate.
MEN'S MASTERS
With three games under their belt in the round robin, it's the Killer Whales who have gone three from three. The English Titans and Touch N Me, Touch N U both hot on their heals.
Malaysia are yet to get a W, but with just 8 players making it across to the event, the Touch cmmunity really pulled together and stepped in to bolster their numbers, as TeamRef donned the Malaysian teams colours to help out.
The Scottish Stags and Portugal Foxes both with one win and two losses.
There's two more pool games to play today, before finals time, so it's all to play for in day two.
WOMEN'S DIVISION
The women’s series was played in two pools.
Some excellent Touch played across the board, with some tight games ending in drop off, and several games finishing with just one try separating the winners.
Summer Camp Champs topped Pool A, with two wins. An end to end game against Eurostars. Humble Brag took the top spot in Pool B going three from three. Both Titans Comets had three very close games, with with one or two scores in it...
Jets off to a slow start, awaiting their first win.
DAY TWO
Day two, will see the top 3 men’s teams (FIGJAM, Dutch Lions and Steibock) and the top two mixed teams (Sea Unicorns and Narwhals), going through to the ShootOut Cup, and play off to be crowned Champions. The remaining 2 men’s teams (Mardi Violets and Norse Code) and the mixed teams coming in 3rd and 4th, (All Stars and Triple Threat) will progress to the ShootOut Plate.
