MIXED

The format was a Round Robin, 6 x 30 minute games, culminating with the top two going into the cup final (1v2) and 3v4 playing for bronze in 40 minute games.
Those finishing 5th, 6th and 7th will play 2 x 20 minute games in a mini round robin to complete the divisions final positions.
After 6 games each, Big Bang Europe took the table top spot, not losing a game so far. But with the loss of Captain Cristof due to a shoulder injury, ruling him out for the rest of the championships, could they keep their winning streak as they headed into the finals...

The Mixed final saw Galaxy Touch London and Big Bang Europe face off. After both dominating in their respective round robin stage, and drawing in the pool stage 5-5, both teams were eager to secure a victory before heading to the after-party.
The game was nobody’s to call throughout, with the scoreboard ping-ponging back and forth, and by half time the result of the game was still unclear, albeit BBE were 6-4 up.
After the first 30 minutes, the teams were locked at 9-9 with ten minutes to go. No more tries scored in the final quarter, so we went to drop-off.
Galaxy took the first try in drop off from to take the advantage. They had to now keep Big Bang out with a strong defence for the last 90 seconds. After two penalties on the line, a voluntary roll ball scuppered BBE’s chances, as Galaxy got the ball back and stuck it up their jumper…
It was an incredibly tense match with Galaxy Touch London JUST taking the win with an intense and heavy scoring game of 10-9.
What a final, end to end stuff, and both teams should be incredibly proud of their determination throughout the event and in their performance in the finals.
