With 8 teams, entering this division, coming from England, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland and ‘Global Select’ team with players from Spain, USA and Wales, the scene was set with a perfect schedule of four x 30 minute games on Day One, three x 30 minute games on day two and then finals and playoffs.

With a mixture of levels of teams there was always a potential to have a couple of blowout results in the pool games, by the end of day one there was just the allstars and triple threat who were unbeaten and separated only on try difference.

Resulting Roosters, a relatively development team from Warrington, England, brought lots of Rugby League skill and athleticism but just lacked Touch experience to convert it into a win.

Marley Park Tipsters, the Irish contingent with an average age of 62 gave their all and used their experience to push teams all the way.

The Rascals and Titans were a mixture of English internationals and friends from the 40s through to the 55 division/age category. With a couple of wins each they landed mid table having played some excellent Touch with flare on show throughout.

We tipped (link) the top 4 to be allStars, triple threat, Dutch Lions and Swiss mountain goats. We nailed it.

Dutch Lions have attended this event for the last couple of years, winning it last year, but with a stronger contingent of entries in this fourth edition, landed third after the pool games. They put up a great fight against the Allstars with a seven-all draw, but a loss to the Swiss, put them in third place.

The Swiss Mountain goats only dropped two games during the round robin phase against the two eventual finalists. It was a grudge match against the Allstars as many of these players had faced off at the recent Touch World Cup in the Mens 45s division where the Swiss got the better of the English with a 6-5 win, going onto the bronze medal match. Fast forward 9 months and after a messy first 10 minutes, the allstars composed themselves and took the win and revenge in a 5-2 win.

It was triple threat, the men’s 30s team from London, that topped the table and would head into the finals against the AllStars.

In the playoffs, Resulting Roosters took their first win to finish off the weekend on a high, beating Marley Park Tipsters 3-2. Rascals forfeit their last game, putting Titans into 5th spot - some have said it was down to cervezas being served at the club house opposed to a few injuries, these claims are yet to be confirmed/substantiated ☺️

The bronze medal match saw a reversal of fortune for the Dutch, as they took the win against the Swiss, beating them 5-4 in a thrilling playoff to take third.

Finals footy beckoned for the Allstars and Triple Threat.

Their pool-round encounter had already proven to be a tough match, with the Triple Threat claiming a 6-3 victory.

The final certainly lived up to expectations, as the teams were cheered on from the remaining teams on the sidelines and grandstand, as the floodlights shone bright.

The teams went score for score in the first five minutes, but several successive long balls out to the wing saw TT take a 5-1 lead going into half time.

It was a fast and fiery affair, with lots of physical ‘touches’ being dished out by both sides.

The Allstars took the first blood after half time, with Mears dotting down twice in quick succession, with assists from Sills and Cropper respectively.

Some flair from Triple threat saw them go over the whitewash a couple more time, to make the final score 8-3 to triple threat, who took the win.

Congratulations to the 2025 Touch n Tapas men’s cup winners, Triple Threat.
